Halloween

Happy Halloween!!!

We hope everyone is having a spooky fun Halloween! If it's been as busy as ours has been then I've got the perfect dinner for you. It's fast and easy and fun for the kids

English Muffin Mummies:

All you need is :
English Muffins
Spaghetti sauce
String cheese
Olives
Pepperoni

Cut your English muffins in half and spread your spaghetti sauce on each side. Put a few Pepperoni's then peal your string cheese and position randomly to make it look like a mummy rapping. Add your Olives for the eyes and pop in the oven on 375 until edges are crispy. There you have it.
Enjoy!

Royal Icing and Sugar cookies

 HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!
Here is a yummy recipe that I made today for my husbands work. Let me tell you, you can devour the whole batch :).... They are that good!!! My favorite dessert is sugar cookies, so I like to play around with flavors a lot to get the perfect cookie..  This time I put lots of ALMOND extract in them!! I personally think they give them that extra yumminess to them!!

Royal Icing Ingredients:
-3/4 cup of warm water
-5 tablespoons of meringue powder
-1 teaspoon of cream of tarter
-2.2lbs of powder sugar
-1 teaspoon of almond extract

Diretions:
Add water and meringue powder and beat on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add cream of tarter and beat for 1 minute. Add powder sugar and almond extract. Beat for 8-10 minutes on low speed.  Add in food coloring.

 Ingredients for the Sugar Cookies:
-3/4 cup butter
-3/4 cup granulated sugar
-1 large egg
-2 teaspoons almond extract
-2 teaspoons vanilla extract
-2 1/4 cups flour
-1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Directions:

In a large bowl, beat butter until smooth. Add sugar and beat on high until fluffy. Add egg, almond extract, and vanilla extract and beat on high for 1-2 minutes.  Add flour (mixing in approx. 1/2 cup at a time) and baking powder. Beat on slow until all mixed together.

Roll out the dough, then put into the refrigerator for an hour (can stay in the refrigerator for 1 day if needed).

Once it has been chilled, roll out to desired thickness (1/4 of an inch thick is optimal). Cut into desired shapes with a cookie cutter. Bake at 350 degrees F for 7-10 minutes.

spell book

Halloween is a favorite in my family. Every year we try to make a new fall item, so when I saw these spell books on Pinterest I knew they were a must. And they are still a favorite.

What you will need:
Old book
Printed spell pages
Ribbon
Distress ink
Mog podge
Lighter
Tea mixture

Head over to your local thrift shop to find an old book. They have the best prices for the perfect worn look. Plus you might score some extra cash... A local here bought a book and found a thousand bucks in it. True story! Cook up some tea and pour into a spray bottle. Spray pages and let dry.... This will help with the aged look. Use your Distress ink to darken a few spots on your page. Then take a lighter and burn your edges. Be careful to not let it burn the whole page. I kept my spray bottle close by so I could control the burning. Type up your spell and print it on white paper. Mog podge it to your book adding more tea mixture and Distress ink. Then tuck your Ribbon in the top and let it fall. Abracadabra! You've got yourself a spell book.

Halloween Rice Krispie treats

I was in charge of bringing treats for my sons pack meeting this month and knew I needed something delicious that I could make a lot of. Then I remembered every time I make these rice krispies they always get eaten and they're quick and fun for the kids. And believe me... There were none left over.

Ingredients:
One box of rice krispies
One bag of marshmallows
One bag of caramels (these are the key to delicious gooey krispies)
One stick of butter

Toppings:
Almond bark dipping chocolate
Sprinkles

Directions:
Melt your caramels and butter on low heat until the caramels are almost completely melted. You'll still want to be able to see their shape on a few of them. Do not over cook your caramel or your rice krispies will harden. Once the caramels are mostly melted add your marshmallows and stir until gooey. Last, stir in your rice krispies until completely covered. Transfer to a pan and pat down. Once cooled, cut and let the kiddos decorate.

Halloween cone

In need of something for that empty space but not wanting your typical wreath? These are so fun and easy to personalize.

What you will need:

Paper mache cone
Halloween scrapbook paper
Double sided tape
Styrofoam cube
Your choice of decorations

I bought all of my stuff at Michaels and Dollar Tree.

Start with covering your cone in scrapbook paper. Use double sided tape to secure the edges. You can also put a layer of mod podge over your paper to create a distressed look. Put the Styrofoam cube into the cone. That will hold all of your decorations up. Then decorate your cone to your liking. You can make it as spooky or as cute as you'd like. Have fun!

Little Boy's Safari Bedroom

I have been working on my little boys bedroom (it's still a work in progress.) But here is a sneak peek on part of his bedroom.  I designed the picture frames from My Memories.  I absolutely love this company!! I make all my kids scrapbooks from them also (I will be doing a post on it soon.) Also, I love feed back!! So if you have any ideas on what color I should paint his room, I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT IT!! :) :) :)

Mint Oreo Eyeballs

Mint Oreo Eyeballs:

Ingredients

One package of Mint Oreos
3-4 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
Candy dipping chocolate (I used Wilton Candy Melts and Chocolate Almond Bark)
Candy eyeballs
Red food coloring pen

Instructions

Toss Oreos in blender or food processor until ground finely. In a large bowl combine Oreo crumbs and 3 oz of cream cheese. Add more cream cheese for a more gooey texture.  Stir well until the cream cheese is completely mixed in. It's easiest to just use your hands for this. Then roll cookie mixture into bite size balls and freeze for about 30 minutes. Once the cookie balls have cooled melt your favorite dipping chocolate and dip cookie balls. With the eye balls they don't need to be perfect because it just adds to the fun effect. Once the chocolate has hardened decorate as desired.   Beware..... They won't last long.
Enjoy!

I also dipped some in Chocolate for my boys because they're not huge fans of White Chocolate
