A whole day of messes

Yesterday I made it a point to try and catch all the messes Crew could make in one day. I wasn't able to catch them all on camera, but he didn't disappoint. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you "A whole day of messes"

It stared out with him asking for cereal for Breakfast..... So he could pour and spit it out...

While he was pulling out all his books and throwing them across the room he was saying "messes" over and over. Mission completed.

I wish you could see the video of this one because it was pretty funny to watch. He was swiping them off with his hands and decided he needed some foot action in there. His balance wasn't up to par so he went back to swiping until every single one was off.

In the Summer this is typical behavior for him. I literally replanted my flower pots a handful of times because of him and the dog. Right now it's a snowless Winter for us. Lucky for him.
How did he get out there you ask? Oh, the handy doggy door of course.

A cookie before dinner. You know you've done it too.

And last but not least. Before going to bed all the packed away Summer clothes needed do be pulled out.

There you have it folks. All in a day's work. There's always tomorrow. Bed time anyone?

Mess maker

I've been taking a break from crafting lately because, well let's face it. I'm exhausted and don't have time. I've recently just upgraded from the 2 kids category to the 3. And let me tell ya, I underestimated it. While I love the new addition. I'm also finding it hard to keep an eye on my toddler as well as I use to. Hence the reason for my new post.

Meet Crew. Adorable isn't he? Don't be fooled by his cheesy cute smile though. This curious child has mischief written all over him. He is the sweetest most loving little man ever and will give you kisses and loves all day. But, the second you take your attention elsewhere he's on a mission. A mission to gain all eyes on him. And boy does he get it.

While Crew has been especially michevious lately, I realized making messes has always kinda been his "thing". Maybe it just seems worse right now because I'm more busy and he probably tries a little harder to get attention. I've decided that I'm going to start documenting all the mischief he gets into to shed some light on it (and because it's so often). Maybe now when my husband asks what I did today he can know that I literally did clean all day.

Looking back...

Here are just a few that I've caught on camera.

Ah, the classic t.p. thief. See that toilet paper holder next to the toilet? Ya, neither do I. That's because on a regular basis Crew STILL takes all the stocked up toilet paper off and steals the holder to drag around the house for me to find at the most inconvenient time (if ya know what I mean).

And this one... This was the day we had just thrown his big first birthday party and I had just finished cleaning up. Apparently he hadn't had enough sugar. At least he tried to share!

These chocolates however, I was NOT wanting to share. He found them. And ate them all! Except the melted ones he sat on and got all over the pillows.

Baking powder. Maybe it tastes better if you rub it on your body first.

This is just the start of it all. Stay tuned for more ways to make messes.

Cereal box mail organizer

You'll never guess what this mail organizer is made out of!!!

OK so maybe you did guess because you've been seeing these pins all over Pinterest lately. I don't know about you but we ALWAYS get mail stacked up. Every time I organize it and get rid of everything you can bet by the end of the week it's all stacked up again. I even have a hanging mail organizer on the side of my counter and this still happens. I hate the way the clutter looks so I don't know why I let this happen all the time. I decided I outta try an organizer for ON TOP of the counter. (because that's always where it ends up). Plus, I already had all the supplies needed for this afternoon project. And I bet you do too!

Supplies:
2 different size cereal boxes. You need to make sure one will fit inside the other.
3 different pattern scrapbook paper.
Box cutter
Tape
Glue
marker

First you're going to cut your largest box. Decide how low you want your first layer to be and draw a line across. Flip it over and measure how tall you want it to be. Last, flip it on the side and connect the front and back lines. Use the box cutter and cut the measurements you just made.

Next you're going to cover your boxes with the Scrapbook paper. Wrap the boxes as you would a present.  I used a wrapping paper on two of them and found it easier to wrap. (you only need to wrap what will be seen).

After you have wrapped both boxes, place the smaller box inside the bigger box and tape the front sides together.

Now it is ready to sit on your counter and gather mail. (At least this way it looks cute while the mail piles up)

Have fun!

Flash card banner

I have been seeing the use of flash cards a lot lately! Which I love because it's cheap and so simple and pretty (I love simple and pretty oh and cheap). I was however a little surprised at how many stores I had to go to to find some. I finally found them at a local craft shop, mainly for teachers and such. I've also heard of people finding them at thrift stores. Which adds a vintage look. The rest of the supplies I had around the house or from previous projects.

Supplies:
Flash cards (plain)
A yard of ribbon or lace
Paper clips
Clothes pins

Measure your cards on your lace. Cut and tie into slip knot.

Attach your cards with your paper clips or clothes pins.

Now your ready to hang. My favorite look right now is to add a banner to a wreath.

I couldn't decide which banner to make so i made both :)  I used the paper clips for "be mine"

Have fun!

upgrade old furniture

So I've had this entry table ever since we moved in and I've never really been In love with it. I actually have plans to add a old door and turn it into a bench... But that's another story. So, today I finally decided I was sick of it and wanted a change. And that is exactly what I got.

Here is a before photo of the table. See how it's hardly noticed?

Well I today I transformed it to this this.

I bet ya this won't be missed when you first walk in my door. I'm actually pretty excited to see my husband's reaction to this.

At first I was really scared to choose such a bright and bold color, but my front room is so dark and doesn't get much light. At first I tried decorating it with natural colors and all white pillows but I grew sick of how plain it looked. Now that I'm adding more color, I'm noticing the room getting alot more use. And I likey.

All I did was use petroleum jelly on the areas I did not want painted. And spray painted the rest. I love using spray paint whenever possible because it is so quick and easy.

After the paint dried all I did was use a paper towel to wipe away the areas I had applied the jelly to.

SO easy! And it only took my 2 hours tops to create this new look. I'm loving the way it turned out and how it looks in my front room!

My front room seems so much brighter now. I can't stop walking back into this room.

XOXO Valentine decor

Valentine's decor is sometimes hard to find. I've found I have had to make a majority of my valentine decor, which is fine for me because I love doing it. I'm going to show you how easy it can be to bring the holiday into your home.

I owe my inspiration to my sister. I visited her this past weekend and she had done one very similar and I fell in love.

Supplies:
Scrapbook paper
Paper mache letters
Mog podge
Sander
Jute
Gold metallic spray paint
Valentine's embellishments
(I got almost all my supplies at Hobby Lobby)

First, trace your letters onto your paper. Next spray paint the outer sides of your letters with the gold spray paint. While the paint is drying cut out your letters.

Once your letters are dry apply your paper with the Mog podge. Distress your edges with a sander once you've glued all your letters.

Now your ready to decorate your letters. You can make this as simple or as detailed as you want.

Now you're ready to display your adorable Valentine's decor!

Happy Valentine's day!

Always Kiss Me Goodnight

It may or may not have taken me over 5 years to print out my wedding pictures.  How horrible am I? Especially when I love to scrapbook.  I am always printing pictures out for my boys, but somewhere I kept forgetting to do my pictures.  I guess that's what happens when you have children, you tend to put all the focus on them (which I don't mind.)

So, I know I have talked about MyMemories a lot!! I absolutely love love love their software if you can tell!!! You can do so much on there other than scrapbook stuff.  It took me like 10 minutes to design "Always Kiss Me Goodnight." I love EASY!!!

I have been wanting to do something over my headboard for quite sometime now.  I just couldn't decide on what.  When my wedding pictures popped into my mind.  I knew I had too.  And I am glad I did.  Now I can see them everyday and remember one of the happiest days of my life.

XOXO,
Brooke
